Tired of celebrating Cinco de Mayo by passing out in a pool of Corona- and margarita-filled vomit? Well, this weekend, the Guadalupe Centers Inc. (1015 Avenida Cesar E. Chavez) offers a family-friendly Cinco de Mayo Fiesta that still promises a rockin' good time. Today, local Tex-Mex-style bands Las Estrellas and Tropical Azul perform (dancing is highly encouraged). Then, on Sunday, it's Mariachi Fest, with four regional mariachi bands adding to the festivities. Other fiesta options throughout the weekend include folklore dancers; kiddie rides and games; and booths that sell jewelry, T-shirts and Mexican art. Inside the Guadalupe Center, a photo exhibit showcases the history of the organization, which dates back to 1919. Best of all, the center's catering program serves standard favorites such as enchiladas, burritos, nachos, fajitas and tamales. Beer, margaritas and sodas are also available. Fiesta hours are noon to 10 p.m. today and 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. Call 816-421-1015 for more information.
