Despite some recent play in the mainstream press (Spin named it "Band of the Day" a few weeks back), don't expect to see any State Bird songs on upcoming versions of Guitar Hero. For one thing, it would cost a small fortune to purchase all those accordion, mandolin and trumpet controllers. Besides, three minutes of color-coded button-mashing wouldn't begin to encompass the organic feel of the Ohio ensemble's eclectic Mostly Ghostly, which arrived this past February. Until the release of Rock Band: Ethnic Folk Edition, State Bird will have to settle for success on blogs and onstage.
